Frequently Asked Questions
The run/walk route passes by a few churches and street closures would have eliminated access to their parking lots. That’s no Bueno. We also felt like this event belonged on a Saturday to give ample time for celebrating your accomplishment.
Depends who you ask! The first Valley 4th RUN was in 2012, so this is the 10th time we’ve held this event. But it’s tricky because it’s only really been 9 years if you do the math. It’s confusing, we know. We’re trying to stay away from words like “anniversary” and “annual” because we’re planning to party & celebrate VA Momentum’s ten year birthday all year starting July 4, 2021.
Slightly. The Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market is open on Saturdays so we designed a course that minimally impacts flow of traffic to/from the Market. Check out the route here.
We will provide medals for the first place male and female finishers in their age groups for the IN-PERSON event. Medals will not be provided for the VIRTUAL event. Either way, you get all the pride in the world.
Absolutely. We love walkers & runners of all skills, backgrounds & abilities.
Yes! We welcome participants who'd like to join from anywhere in the world on Saturday, July 3rd between 8am-5pm (EST). Please visit the sign up page to secure your virtual spot, which includes a shirt and bib so you'll be feeling all the good community vibes from afar.
We’ll have a safe packet pickup available on Friday, July 2nd from 2-7pm. Location is TBD in Harrisonburg.
Yes. You’ll see an option for having your packet mailed when you register. There is an additional $5 mailing cost per individual packet and $8 per group/family packet.
All participants signed up by the end of the day on June 21st will receive a shirt!
Short answer: Yes. Long answer: We’ve got some creative ideas up our sleeve to make sure this event spreads the love to charities just as it has for ten years (including 2021). Stay tuned on social media for special announcements. Like many businesses, our finances came to a screeching halt during the pandemic. Though we’ve been incredibly fortunate (shoutout Forward Series subscribers!), the struggle isn’t over. We need profits from events like this to keep us above water and it’s important that we keep some of the money, too.
Our mission is energizing communities for good. We plan active events with an emphasis on building community. We’re a for-profit, for-purpose social enterprise created by two buddies who care about promoting active lifestyles in an approachable way. VA Momentum has contributed $123,528 to charities since its founding.
