There’s this virus going around and we don’t want to spread germs. Plus, there are some rules right now about how many people can gather and we need to follow those guidelines. This is our spin on an annual event that’s super important to the community. We think the idea we’ve come up with is pretty sweet ad hope you'll join the positivity.
To be honest, we don’t really like the term “virtual” because there’s nothing virtual about the actual running/walking you’re doing! They’re real miles by real people like you. Even though we won't be in person together, we promise it'll feel like the same community tradition you've come to love over the past couple years!

Plus a morning full of motivation, pictures and camaraderie in a private social media group as Blacksburg keeps this Thanksgiving tradition alive.

That’s up to you! Pick your favorite route or try something new. We recommend using a free app like Strava or RunGo to track your mileage. We also recommend running/walking in an uncongested area and practice social distancing.
Uh, definitely! We still envision this is a family event where kids are excited about completing a 5K and entering their time as part of a community event.
We aren’t doctors, so we ask that you consult your physician on this one.
Technically - yes. However, if you start your run/walk but are unable to complete a full 5K distance, you can still log your activity using the link we will provide. That way you'll appear in the overall participant list, but you won't be eligible for any awards.
